What a beautiful morning. The grass is so green. I love this time of year.
The Patio opened yesterday to a whimper. No Special Delivery!. Next weekend will be better. We will be starting Crabs this coming Friday. I have spoken to our suppliers. I was told that it is two early in the season and the Crabbers are not grading Crabs. They will all be 5″=. It is what it is. They are expensive but not as expensive as last year at this time. Our prices are $335/bu & $50/Doz this week. We are not having AYCE yet. In order to do AYCE we would have to charge $75 which is ridiculous. We will be starting Crabs on Friday. Call 301-662-9465 to order or for reservations.
This weeks Specials are:
Tuesday: Steak & Cheese Sub w/Chips
Wednesday: Fried Chicken w/2 Sides
Thursday: Breakfast for Lunch
Friday: Salmon Cakes w/Mac & Cheese & Stewed Tomatoes
Friday Night: CRABS ARE BACK
Our last AYCE Buffet Breakfast was yesterday. Our last Friday Dinner Special featuring Prime Rib was Friday Night and as expected “Sold Out” Today, Sunday, will be the last of the Wing Specials until the Fall. That includes Tuesday Wing Night. The beginning of Crab Season also marks the end of the Draft Beer & Domestic Bottle Specials. There will be Happy Hour Specials but not as drastic. We have to start paying the mortgage sometime.
We have hired a new Manager after an exhaustive search’ His name is Rolando “Roland” for short. He is enthusiastic and anxious to learn the Pub. The Pub is not like any other Bar. We have a great staff, many of whom have been there for many years. A tribute to them and our customers. He will fit in nicely. It will take some time. Please welcome him and introduce your self when you see him.
Mary’s last physical day as a Pub employee is Friday April 30th. Boy do I feel sorry for Byron!. We will have a farewell reception for Mary in the near future when Pete is back in town.
Speaking of Pete. In the past few months Pete has been having trouble with the circulation in his legs especially the left one. They put stints in and they collapsed twice in his left leg. Last week he was suffering excruciating pain. When he got back to Florida, they admitted him to ICU. On Wednesday, they had no choice but to remove a portion of his left leg below the knee. I spoke with him this morning and he is doing well. He is out of ICU and on a rehab floor where they are teaching him to walk again and how to get around. While in this process he is looking for a wheelchair. One he says will have to have a motor. With his proximity to Daytona, who knows where this might lead. He had a choice of going home for rehab or remaining in the hospital. He chose the latter which was smart. He expects to be there another week and a half before heading home. He did mention that this rehab floor has a piece of a car where you practice getting in and out. He said that the staff there is awesome but the food sucks. He is only allowed two visitors at a time. His kids are taking turns coming into town. Please keep pete in your thoughts and prayers that he has a sppedy recovery and will do well in this new exciting chapter of his life. If you want to send a card his address is: Pete Kimmel 1809 S. Flagler Ave., Flagler Beach, FL. 32136.
Miss Linda and I traveled to Ocean City to attend my nephew’s wife’s funeral on Thursday & Friday. She was 45 and they have three beautiful daughters. It is sad to go to funeral of someone so young. My oldest sister, Mary Ann, is the mother of 15, 8 boys & 7 girls (one set of twins) If you think that I can remember all their names, you better think again. It was nice to be able to see all of them. My daughter, Kerry Beth, also made the trek. I was able to give her her Christmas Presents in the parking lot. I m now down to two sets of Presents that are yet to be delivered. Damn Virus. We stopped at Harris’ on the way down. Large Crabs are $80/doz, X-lge $110 & Jumbo $140/ doz. Wow!
Enjoy your week and stay safe.
See you at the Pub.
The Three Fools.
